We have a P-21 and for a few years we muscled up the mast with a very long line stretched out into the rigging lot. Now no matter how much spinach I eat I can not do this anymore. A few years ago a man by the name of Crossner posted a pic of a very simple mast raising system. However it was not a very clear picture. I since have built one and took pics that came out very well and would like to share this method with anyone who would like to build the same. The 2x6 is wedged in between the bow pulpit and locked in place by the 2x4 that swivels to keep the board in place. I stay on deck and as my wife cranks the winch I steady the mast to prevent it going sideways. This method works terrfic for raising or lowering. |
